dress-up prompt #5

An old faded purple dress for $3.50.  It had a hole in the back but the bead work alone!! The design of the dress...how old is it?....I could not leave it there on the rack! It hangs up in my room now so I can admire some stranger's workmanship. I could barely zipper up the side to put it on for my self portrait prompt today:)

Who used to wear this dress....I wonder and smile about this.

If you are playing along this week please leave a link to your blog in the comments.
1.post one to seven photos of your self portrait session wearing something that might be out of your comfort zone(this prompt will be happening here every Saturday)

2. *This is important just share what is comfortable for YOU, maybe it is just a shoe shot or your wrist with some bangles on it, maybe not all seven photos have you in them but instead they might capture the feeling and mood of the photo shoot.

3. Leave your link to your post in the comments.

I might be able to say something about the age, even though I would really prefer to see it in person, feeling the fabric. Initially I thought it had a 50s style to it, the small, high waist, the flair of the skirt. Since the skirt is long, it must be an evening-gown, otherwise the length of the skirt would be able to tell me about the age. However, because there appears to be should-pads, I´, thinking the 40s. The shoulder-pads were inspired from the military uniforms, which pretty much inspired all of the 1940s fashion. So my guess is sometime between 1945-1955. Does it have an unpainted metal-zipper? How wide is the skirt? And what is the fabric? It looks like it could be rayon. anyway. I can´t be more specific in my guess than within the above-mentioned decade.
It´s a beautiful dress, and even though it´s gorgeous on you, I´m sure it´s beautiful on your wall too. Congratulations on your vintage treasure! :-)

I've had these blue satin shoes for over a year - and never worn them out . . . crazy, hmm? I just always felt, I don't know, like they needed someone with a little more moxy than I could muster? How silly. I paired them with a new (to me) navy top and khaki skirt, with my ol' leather belt as a security blanket of sorts. Thanks for the inspiration! Purple dress is dreamy. M
