hello!

I have felt neglectful of this blog as of late!!! Just being on the computer in general I have not had a minute for it:)  I wanted to share some photos of my art show that has been up for the last month (Mary, these are for you:) The show is in town (Eugene, OR) at a lovely little place called  Off the Waffle. If you live in Eugene and you have never been there do yourself a favor the food is Excellent!!

I must share that I am heading out this spring break to the Artfest put on by Teesha Moore something that my dear friend Suz(sperlygirl) shared with me years ago. We both had dreams of attending it together but we were both living over in Italy and the timing and finances were never right. The timing is right for me this year, the finances........well.......let's just say I made it happen and had some generous supporters too (Thank you! You know who you are!!). My only regret is that Suz is not able to go with me( she is still in Italy). So I will go for both of us, tuck her smile, laughter and sheer super coolness into my heart and take her along with me in this way.
I will be back online first week in April
Joy to you all!

In our neighborhood many big trees lost some of their branches
down our street

eugene snapshots #12

I have been under the weather for this whole week so tonight is really the first chance I have felt well enough to get to the computer. I have finished my vision board for March which I hope to get up this weekend.

Thought I would share some Eugene snapshots.
The millrace which curves throughout Eugene is still one of my favorite things about Eugene. When I was a kid, more than once I canoed down the millrace. I think I will do that again this summer.
A storefront window display about love and an old barbershop, boy do I love the old barbershop signs

red background

I am working on a new painting for my lovebird series, below is the first layer, red is for passion because truly she loved things passionately.

She saw some seagulls the other day in a parking lot as she walked downtown.....seagulls flying around and making their calls, reminding her of some of the things that she loves.

The ocean that surrounds the Azores, the same ocean she used to look at while she washed the dishes. The green pastures outside her kitchen window.....follow theses pastures with your eyes and they will lead you to the sparkling ocean. She loved to hear to seagulls call out as they made their way down to the ocean.

The feral cat that she feed, that slept outside her kitchen window would look up too at the seagulls flying by. She loved this cat too, even if it ran away every time she came out to feed it, always coming back and sitting by her window watching her wash the dishes.

headbands

I had a craft day last week at my house with my friend Steph, she laid out her beautiful hand-dyed fabric pieces for a quilt she is making and I worked on making a pattern for some headbands I want to make and add to my shop (inspired by sperlygirl's headbands). I want the straps to be very thin and I am using pieces of vintage fabrics with embroidery on them and little pieces of silk. This first one did not come out exactly as I wanted, but I need to remember this is the start.
